Semester 01 Grade Information

Good morning, I will update Semester 01 grading information below as it happens.

AP Computer Science A:
The Semester Final was scaled down from 80 to 74 to accomodate students on the border between grades. So your final semester grade is now posted. Emailing me about how you missed a particular grade by one or two or eight or twelve points will have no effect. I direct your attention to the course info packet you signed which states in part, “No grade adjustments are made for students who are “close” to a particular grade. So an 89.99% grade is a B+ grade, and will not be “rounded up” to an A- grade. I remind you please that all eight quizzes were scaled, AND I provided an extra credit assignment AND I scaled the final exam. I have already made fair and reasonable efforts to help you reach the grade you want.

If you find any errors or mistakes on Aeries, let me know tomorrow (Monday) February 1st before I turn in grades that evening.

AP Computer Science Principles:
The Semester Final was scaled down from 60 to 54 to accomodate students on the border between grades. Recall that the semester final is worth 25% of your Quizzes and Finals grade. During semester one, we had 76 points for all eight quizzes we took. So, your final exam score was multiplied by 0.463 to make it a score out of 25 points. This was rounded (up or down) to the nearest whole point. The Create Task was really three assignments in one, and it too me most of Saturday to finish grading them. So your final semester grade is now posted.

Intro To Mobile Game Development:
The Semester Final was scaled to 57 out of 60 points to help students on the border between grades. Overall, the scores on the final were very high, so there was no reason to scale down further. The 2D Platformer and the Google Keep entry have now been graded. So your final semester grade is now posted.

Advanced Mobile Game Development:
No semester final. The Game Progress Presentations from last week, the Google Keep entry related to that progress update, and the daily Google Keep entries until January 27th have all been graded. So your final semester grade is now posted.

I am actively working on getting Mentors for the four of you for this semester as you complete your game project. So far, it has been very difficult, and I have had no luck. COVID-19 may be having some effect on my ability to find mentors with extra time. I will continue to work on this.
