MOBILE APP:
Your final project is due one week from today! The cabinet with your Galaxy Tab A tablets is currently unlocked. After the Guest Teacher takes roll, please use your tablet. Put your tablet back at the end of the period.

ANIMATION PROJECTS:
Your final project is due one week from today! Please continue to work on your final project!!

AP COMPUTER SCIENCE:
Please continue to work on the Finch Robot assignment. I will be available to check your work on Monday, so if you finish StraightEdgeRaveFinch, then continue on to MotorFinchGUI!

TOMORROW SEMESTER FINAL:
A reminder that you Semester Final worth 20% of your grade starts tomorrow. Tomorrow you will have 50 questions in 45 minutes. Thursday will be the same 50 questions in 45 minutes. All 100 questions will be 80-90% second semester material, and 10-20% first semester material. About half of the questions will have short bits of code and about half of the questions will be regarding Java vocabulary, definitions, and keywords.

Some major topics include: ArrayList, , Wrapper classes, Arrays (1D, 2D), Quadratic sorts, Recursive sorts, Binary Search, Order Of Algorithm, DeMorgan’s Theorem, Interfaces, Inheritance, Polymorphism, Encapsulation, Abstract Classes, Binary/Octal/Hexadecimal numbering. Some first semester topics include: Naming variables/identifiers, Primitive data types, String Class, Object References, Math.random(), equals(), and compareTo() methods. A reminder that you are allowed a single notes sheet. You must use the sheet I provided, not just any sheet of paper.

Extra final exam notes sheets are on the bottom of the cart near the whiteboard.

AP COMP EXAM PREP SURVEY

Hello 5th and 6th period students. I am sorry that I am gone yet again today. I am at a district training for Canvas LMS software. The good news (for me at least) is that I hope NOT to be gone again until after the AP test. This is on the website, but here’s a quick review of the next 3 days in class:

Wednesday (today): On Friday you will have your LAST quiz for this class (see Friday for details!). I would strongly recommend you use your time today to look over FRQ questions on the Litvin website HERE, and on the official AP exam page HERE.

Thursday: We will review the Multiple Choice Answers. I have already graded the Multiple choice. The highest score was 20 out of 22, but that score will be well above the scale. Most likely, I will impose a limit on the scores above the eventual scale, so the people with 20,19,18 will probably be limited. More on the scale tomorrow 🙂

Friday: Four FRQ methods to write in 55 minutes. These FRQ methods can be from any area, and any topic. So this time, there will be no hints as to the area, to be more like the actual exam. Focus on questions that we haven’t already used on past quizzes and past review sessions. Each period will have different methods to write. We will go over the FRQ questions on Monday, May 6th.

As I mentioned last week, my sister is graduating from college in Michigan, and I will be attending over the weekend. Please welcome and say hello to our guest teacher Ms. Watkins. Not only will she be our guest teacher today, but AP Computer Science 5th and 6th periods will see her again on Wednesday, and all of you will see her again on Friday, May 31st when I will be traveling to Portland Oregon.

MOBILE APP FIRST PERIOD:
Please continue getting your BattleBots ready for competition starting TOMORROW. You should have everything you need to keep working. The Dohyo is available for practice and testing. Please remember to keep the skewers COVERED at all times outside the ring!! Be ready to battle tomorrow!

ANIMATION PROJECTS SECOND PERIOD:
Please continue to work on your Blender Project which is due FRIDAY! You will not have access to your 3D Printer objects until tomorrow. Regardless, your focus should be on getting your Blender photos finished anyway, since they are due FRIDAY!

AP COMPUTER SCIENCE 5/6 PERIODS:
Tomorrow, we will start the two part Quiz 10. Quiz 10 Part A is 22 multiple choice questions. I would strongly recommend that you spend time today reviewing for the quiz tomorrow. The best review sources for Multiple choice are the official AP questions found in the course info book HERE (answers page 43), the Barron’s free online exam found HERE, and the Georgia Tech review site found HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

Thank you all for working so hard, and doing such great work first semester. Semester One grades have been posted on Aeries. If you feel that there is a mistake or error on my part, please either email me or discuss this with me on Monday.

For Mobile App: The most recent things graded are the semester project Google Play Store listing, the Semester Project app itself, and the semester final exam. The semester final was scaled to 56 out of 60 points. Please see the course info packet regarding grades. Grades are not rounded up or down.

For Animation Projects: The most recent things graded are the Stop Motion Animation assignment, and the semester final. The semester final was scaled to 55 out of 60 points. Please see the course info packet regarding grades. Grades are not rounded up or down.

For AP Computer Science: The most recent things graded are ICT Lesson 15 ArrayList and the semester final. The semester final was scaled to 93 out of 100 points. Please see the course info packet regarding grades. Grades are not rounded up. Please recall that I scaled all five quizzes, plus the final was scaled, plus step up to writing was scaled, plus there was an extra credit project. All of these things were designed to assist students “close” to the next higher grade range.

A reminder that all work for first semester credit is due by Friday, January 18th at 5:00pm.  After that point, the websites will be disabled and uploads to turn in assignments will not be available for all classes.  Make sure you turn in ANYTHING that you would like credit for by this deadline.

Semester Finals will be January 22nd to January 24th. Mobile App and Animation Projects have a 60 question final worth 60 points. AP Computer Science will have a 100 question final worth 20% of the semester grade. All finals are multiple choice.

Congratulations to the 2019 YLHS E-Sports League Of Legends team. The following students were selected this week after five hours of tryouts. Coach Drake had this to say about the selection process:

“I had a VERY difficult time selecting the players. There were a number of qualified players who didn’t make the team would had potential to make the team. That being said, I noticed this group to have the best communication, game-play, adaptability, ranking, and potential. Congratulations to the team and I’m looking forward to working with them after winter break!” First practice will be 3:00pm, January 9th 2019.
